PoSH Awareness Session for Security & Housekeeping Staff – Microchip Technology, Chennai
On 22 November 2025, PENN Trust conducted a customized PoSH Awareness Session for the Security Guards and Housekeeping Staff at Microchip Technology (India) Pvt. Ltd., Semmancheri, Chennai.
This session was specially designed after understanding the nature of work, work environment, and communication patterns of the participants, ensuring that the training was practical, relatable, and easy to understand.
The session was facilitated by Dr. Swathi with support from Mr. Geo Milton, and delivered bilingually in Tamil and Hindi to ensure inclusiveness and clarity for all 50 participants (both men and women).
Why This Session Was Different
Unlike standard PoSH lectures, PENN Trust adopts a scenario-based, behaviour-focused learning model tailored to the organization’s workforce.
For this group, the session focused on:
Real workplace situations faced by security and housekeeping staff
Understanding what is PoSH and what is NOT PoSH
Professional communication, including misuse of emojis, messages, and informal language
Respecting physical, verbal, digital, and emotional boundaries
Role of witnesses — what to do if you see harassment
Clarifying myths around false complaints
Understanding how the Internal Committee (IC) works even when there is no direct evidence
Importance of confidentiality in PoSH cases
Customized visual scenarios and role plays, designed by PENN’s team, made the learning highly engaging and memorable.
Participant Engagement & Feedback
For many participants, this was their first exposure to PoSH awareness.
Hindi-speaking participants expressed particular appreciation for the bilingual delivery, which helped them openly share their thoughts and experiences.
A key takeaway voiced by participants:
“Our own safety is as important as ensuring the safety of others at the workplace.”
Several participants requested that such sessions be conducted once every six months to stay updated and aware.
